VOTE OF THANKS DELIVERED BY KWEKU DEGRAFT JOHNSON FOLLOWING THE BURIAL SERVICE.
I am very humbled to be in your presence to say “thank you” to you all and acknowledge each and every one of us here presently.
After all, all of here today – most especially, the widow, Josephine, and children, Frank, Victor Jnr and Michael – loved Victor. We all in our own individual way interacted with Victor as family, friend, colleague, associate and neighbour. Today, we have finally closed the chapter on Victor’s sojourn with us. He has moved on and we are in sorrow. But, our memory of Victor will be with us for ever.
On occasions like this, I believe it is permissible to make mistakes, mainly 1) repeating oneself and 2) failing to mention or acknowledge others.
Doubtless the “thank you” has been forthcoming from Josephine and her children, and indeed from the families, ever since Victor’s illness and thereafter his untimely demise.Granted that mistakes will be made, I, on behalf of the widow, the children, the deGraft-Johnson, Wood and Anquandah families, offer a sincere and big thank you to all of you here today for finding the time to join and share in our grief and mourning with us. We extend our appreciation to all of you and others who could not be here today, for the diverse and numerous ways you have supported Josephine and the children in their darkest period.
Again, I believe it is in order to extend our special you to:1. All those who have travelled from outside London and far away places including Ghana for being here.2. All those involved in planning, organising and bringing this event to fruition.3. The MC, Mark Arthur, the DJ, the caterer, all the servers, Dzifa, Linda, Herbert, James and John for ensuring a seamless event without hitches or hiccups this afternoon.4. Avo for putting together the video presentation.5. WGHS Old Students Association for the excellent work done to ensure a successful event.6. Adisadel Old Boys’ Association – particularly the 1980 year group –for their support and rendition of the school’s songs.7. The priests – Rev’ds James Ennin and Clive Atkins and Pastors George and Jude Baiden – for their kind and comforting words and prayers.
Ladies and Gentlemen, despite the aforementioned, allow me to single out the following for a sincere and heartfelt gratitude for their constancy of presence in the widow’s household since the start of Victor’s illness. Their support for the household and comforting presence at the widow’s side has been an encouragement and inspiration to us all to continue to be a good neighbour. To these three couples we say “MBO NA YE”.• Mr and Mrs. James Agyeman• Mr and Mrs.Herbert Crankson• Mr and Mrs. John Turkson The last couple, to me, John in particular has been an immense pillar of support for Josephine and the kids throughout the period of Victor’s illness till death. We salute you for all your love and everything you have done during this testing and difficult period. With my job done, may I kindly request all Santaclausians for one final rendition of “ Adisadel on the Hill…..”. I thank you all….. And thank you once more. Thank you.

My First Christmas In Heaven

I see countless Christmas trees around the world below With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars Reflecting in the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, Please wipe away the tear. For I am spending Christmas With Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs That people hold so dear, But the sounds of music can't compare With the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, The joy their voices bring. For it is beyond description To hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart; But I am not so far away, We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, You know I hold you dear And be glad I'm spending Christmas With Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift, From my heavenly home above, I sent you each a memory Of my undying love.
After all, love is a precious gift More precious than pure gold; It was always most important In the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, As my Father said to do. For I can't count the blessings Or love he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas And wipe away the tear Remember I'm spending Christmas With Jesus Christ this year.
